Consequences & Wreckage from my past
Posted On 08/04/2007 18:02:36 by NA_Butterfly

Hey there everybody!!!  I was talking to my sponsor earlier and we were talking about how I have sleep issues.  I went on a site and did a sleep apnea test.  It looks like I may have it.  I am tired all the time no matter how much sleep I get.  She said that some people in the progam sometimes face things like sleep disorders, anxioty, depression, etc....

I told her that a long time ago I came to the realization that, I as an addict who dumped so many chemicals into my body can't be suprised that when I got clean my brain and body wouldn't be affected.

So, the solution to this for me is to ask my physican to send me to a sleep doctor to do a sleep test on me.  Because, I am tired everyday, all the time to the point it is affecting my daily life.

If there is anyone else out there that has gone through something like this and has found their solution can you please share it with me.

Thanks and Much Love

I haven't been tested or think that I have sleep apnea. But I do strongly believe that I need more sleep than the usual 7-8 hours that is customary in order to function well, and have found sleep and rest to be crucial to my daily well-being. I think back to our ancestors before electricity and I believe that most of them probably got more like 9-10 hours per night.

If I wake in the middle of the night, I just lay there and try to think about good things and breathe deeply and more often than night I find myself back to getting a good night's sleep. For a good book about sleep, I would recommend William Dement's "The Promise of Sleep". He is a sleep research pioneer and a practicing M.D., but explains things about sleep very clearly, including sleep apnea and other things that can lead to loss of sleep.

So that's my 2 cents. Best to you.
