Let's see- I am always surprised to find another month has gone by since I
wrote an update.
A bustling and increasingly hectic schedule has been rolling through....
tumbleweeds blowing willy-nilly...
It began with high hopes to produce crafts for sale at our Towns Fall Fair.
(Organized efforts vary- some folks work all year on favorite projects.)
Our little group is caught by surprise. The twice a month opening of the
Bookstore has generated lots of donations- and a few of us come together
each week to sort & shelve . All of a sudden we must switch modes
and focus on saleable ' crafts' ; *Plus* food bank donations, and food items
for 2 days of lunches during the craft fair...items to give a local shelter...
Well this drunk could easily have been overwhelmed ! However 'recovery'
kicked in- sorting the fluffy colored tumble weeds into several corrals...
THEN:Our AA ThanksGiving Gratitude Potluck was added to the mix-
and I had to sit down and sort through all these options-
"Keep it simple" landed on the table by my paper and calander...
It was a matter of honesty, willingness and energy-( not much capital)
scheduling jobs 'pending'- for our small business and then arranging
evenings for getting out to do crafts. Choosing simple dishes for
Thanks Giving meeting, Food Bank-can't do the lunches-
Prayers and requests for friends to remind me once in a while,
of "times" we are gathering- in case of changes- WHEW !
Humor has played a big role in this last month- laughter and
flexibilty have blessedly ensured Most obligations have been
met, so far-Some of our home groups newer members walked into the
kitchen at the pot luck and set up and served; allowing others to sit down
and listen! So grateful for that reprieve!
I have signed up for small time slots at the craft fair- and am not allowing
any projections to land on my runway - today-
A surprising number of crafts are finished- some are still in the works with
a week left to go-
I haven't even addressed the furnace soon to be installed at our house-
(although we are clearing the basement)-I have one of 2 turkeys here
for our guests coming here...I'll let you know how it all turns out!
