Just Surrender

Surrender yourself to the Lord, and wait patiently for him. Psalm 37:7 (GW)

Surrendering your life means -

  • Following God's lead without knowing where he's sending you;
  • Waiting for God's timing without knowing when it will come;
  • Expecting a miracle without knowing how God will provide;
  • Trusting God's purpose without understanding the circumstances.

You know you're surrendered to God when you rely on God to work things out instead of trying to manipulate others, force your agenda, and control the situation. You let go and let God work. You don't have to always be "in charge." Instead of trying harder, you trust more.

You also know you're surrendered when you don't react to criticism and rush to defend yourself.

Genuine surrender says, "Father, if this problem, pain, sickness, or circumstance is needed to fulfill your purpose and glory in my, life or in another's life, please don't take it away!"

Hard lesson, but worth the fight.

Tina -

     How true. That prayer: "Dear God, I need this - and I need it NOW!!!  Amen." always echo's in the back of my mind. How often we end up in something we don't want. We expect to have God just flick it away - which He could. Instead we end up with a solution we don't like or want.

     Today I find that if I look at things that happen in my life - bad or good, are often caused by me in the first place. Sometimes I have to do that fourth step to get to the bottom of the cause - but it is there. Then take the proper steps to account for my part in the problem. Only then I can go back and ask Him to remove or change something - if that is His will. If not, so be it. Because it is His will, not mine that needs to be done...

Hugs,

Dennis
